The artistic process:
- The artists intended to use the viewing scope to help focus the child’s eye on the Museum’s dome and explore the different visual interpretations created by the artists that are super-imposed on the views of the dome.
- The three large viewing scopes on the Front Lawn are pointed at different directions on the landscape to observe the dome shapes and arches in our environment. The ones in the Garden allow for children to create their own images.
- The Domescape with the viewing scopes in the Front Lawn are personified with their “long legs” suggesting a futuristic being that lives on the outer grounds of the National Museum of Singapore.
