2 ½ D Cinema by Isabelle Desjeux and Russell Morton (Singapore)
7 to 26 June 2011
Presented for the first time in Singapore!
The artist invites children to “walk into” the movies and play with the characters on the screen, hence creating a new composition of the old and the new.
The artistic process:
- The artists researched film footage from the past that recorded people’s lives in Singapore.
- At the same time, the artists were curious to explore children’s response to the older footage and create their modern day stories against this older backdrop.
- This process is recorded, resulting in a composite artwork, which includes the old and the new. By observing the “new compositions”, children are invited to continue to create new interactions with traditional works.
